Scientists cower in fear while security forces fire indiscriminately in an effort to put an end to it. Ultimately, though, the monster smashes its victims into bloody pulp and rips them in half. Its unsettling nature makes Carrion feel like an alien riff on The Thing.
Quick and painless
Despite a gloomy and underwhelming opening, Carrion does have its moments. Players can use tendrils to grab their prey and finish them off by crashing them into walls or even drowning them in a nearby pool. They can also tear them apart with their gnashing maw. Unfortunately, the game does not do a very good job of making players learn its many puzzles, so it is not the best choice for those who want a quick and painless game.
Sound effects
One of the best aspects of Carrion is its soundtrack, which features slurping, chomping, and gurgling sounds. Cris Velasco, a veteran video game composer, crafted this sinister hour-long score. Velasco wanted to create the sound of a monster's inner dialogue, so the music was composed to accentuate deathly screams, crunching bones, and other elements of the game. Moreover, he created one of the game's recurring themes using a real ball of ooze.
